The Four Wedding Trends in 2024
Wedding trends change rapidly, from venues and decorations to menus and attire. When I started doing photography, the wedding photography industry was completely different. The images were more posed and not real.
The most important segment of the day was the couple portraits whereas these days, lifestyle wedding photographers, and documentary wedding photographers look at the whole day as an opportunity to tell the story of the couple, and every moment is as important.
Does it mean that I, as a storyteller wedding photographer, don’t care about beautiful and posed images? Not true. In fact, I instruct my couples to pose beautifully in front of my camera to capture pretty images as well, but it is only 20% of the whole gallery and the rest are mostly natural images.

Now, let’s talk about the wedding trends in 2024. What are the top three trending elements that will surely dominate? Let’s go through them together!
1-Authentic, unposed photographs
The awkwardly posed wedding photo may have seen its last days. As a Chicago wedding photographer, I’ve learned many couples adore the candid, unposed shots taken during the day.
For modern souls, being there and recording their excitement on their wedding day is of utmost importance. These genuine shots that capture the essence of their special day are priceless. There is insurmountable beauty in imperfections; in this case, it couldn’t be more true.

2-Disposable camera
It’s important to hire a professional wedding photographer to record the day’s events as they unfold. Yet, some couples are encouraging guests to take their own memorable snapshots.
Disposable cameras will become the standard at dinner parties and dance floors. This develops the cinematic style by providing an intimate look at the celebration through the eyes of the people who were there.
Moreover, it might be bundled into wedding photography packages, or even bring down the average wedding photographer cost.
Some couples set up a table for the Guests’ books and provide Polaroid cameras, tapes, and colorful pens so that people can take pictures of themselves at the wedding, and attach them to the book with a sweet note for the couple.

3-Mismatched bridesmaid dresses and vibrant, quirky weddings
This year is all about going bold and making a statement! Bright and vivid weddings are predicted to be quite popular in 2024.
There will be a lot of earthy tones like terracotta, copper, rust, and burnt orange, as well as brighter colors like pink, blue, and green. In addition, the ultimate color for this year is a very vibrant shade of deep magenta, so why not stay on trend and bring pops of it throughout your entire celebration?! From the centerpiece flowers to the dresses worn by the bridal party, these colors will be highly prominent.
In other fashion news, the days of matching bridesmaids’ outfits are numbered. The latest style trend is to wear apparel that doesn’t match.
The bridesmaids dressed in mismatched outfits are a wonderful approach to injecting some personality into the ceremony. Having everyone wear a different color scheme will produce very striking pictures.
4-Private Last Dance
People are more familiar with the private first dance. Once the reception is ready for the couple to take a look, and the DJ is testing the sound, it is the perfect time for the couple to practice their first dance privately.
How about the private last dance? First of all, a private last dance provides a chance for the couple to connect and be intimate and alone after a day filled with festivity.
It is a great opportunity for the newly married couple to have a private moment and be grateful for having one another and celebrating their wedding day with their friends and family.
