My strategy in creating a versatile gallery of wedding photography for my clients. a piece of advice from Maloos Khonsarian, a professional wedding photographer in Chicago:
When I started pursuing photography as a hobby, I used to ask my cousins and friends to pose for photos. Despite my passion and enthusiasm for our photoshoots, I would frequently find myself repeating the same poses over and over!
Little by little, in the days before Pinterest and Instagram, I started to study other photographers’ works by simply saving images from Google searches in an aptly named “my favorite pictures” desktop folder.
At first, I considered saving every photo that I liked without thinking any further, but later, once I had the chance to go over the saved files, I started to ask myself why I admired these pictures.
These specific questions allowed me to design a method for learning techniques and managing my photography sessions.
I began planning my sessions ahead of time to avoid redundancy and create a versatile gallery of wedding photography for my clients.
To get inspiration during a session, I created a cheat sheet of very simple sketches based on images I found interesting and carried it in my pocket.
Later, with lots of practice, I became fluent in managing my sessions and learned to design each session around my clients’ style, body types, and outfits, the available props, the time of day, the location, the season, and many more factors that I hadn’t had any clue about when I started taking pictures.
Engagement and wedding photography in Chicago has made my job easier since it has lots of varied locations to offer. Not only it has four seasons but also, you get to take pictures with the cityscape background or nature.
