When I buy new clothes, I find an excuse to wear them as soon as possible. Recently, I snagged this adorable cotton floral dress. I rushed home, snipped off the tag, threw it on, and braved 40°F weather to pick up my son from school. I mean, who needs warmth when you’ve got fashion, right? Gotta show some love to the latest addition to my wardrobe—floral dress number 26!
Now, imagine if I had tucked that dress away, waiting for the perfect weather that never seems to grace us here in Chicago. I’d probably forget all about it or lose my passion for it altogether. It’s funny how strong emotions can change things up, like when you’re starving and suddenly a cheese and bread sandwich tastes like a fancy sushi roll! LOL!
Similarly, when I shoot a session—whether it’s a family photo shoot, an engagement session, or a wedding—I hustle to edit those files pronto.
Take family shoots, for example. I promise to deliver the images within two weeks, but I often beat that deadline. Why? Because seeing those photos while the memories are fresh adds extra value to the experience. It’s like reliving all the good vibes!
Now, weddings? Oh boy, that’s a whole different ballgame. Editing those wedding images is a marathon. Just sorting through the pics takes me about four hours! But I aim to get those images ready faster than you can say “I do.”
Sure, some top-notch Chicago wedding photographers might lag in delivering the goods, but not me. I’m all about that prompt service, baby! because quickly delivering the wedding images is very important to me.
tips before hiring a wedding photographer in Chicago
So, what’s your part in all of this? PRINT those wedding photos, people! Seriously, why wait? Your wedding day is a big deal, and those images are the only tangible reminder. Don’t let them gather digital dust on your hard drive!
I get it, weddings ain’t cheap. But that’s no excuse to skip out on printing. There are tons of affordable printing options out there, from classic prints to fancy photo books. The key is to print ’em while the feels are still fresh. Otherwise, that initial passion might fade, and before you know it, those photos are gathering metaphorical dust too.
Even if you are hiring the best Chicago photographer, always ask about the turnaround time for the wedding images.
Ask your photographer to deliver the Wedding images early, what do you need to do on your end? PRINT your wedding photos!
Seriously, why don’t you order your wedding album immediately right after the wedding? What are you waiting for? The more you see the images, the more neutral and critical you become about them, while wedding pictures are a big deal for you and your children in the future. They are the only thing that stays from your love day, for them, therefore, they need to be printed.
Many couples have told me that they spent lots of money on their wedding and they can’t afford to order prints, but that is not an acceptable excuse.
There are many different printing options in the market, and it doesn’t have to be in the form of a wedding book or album, you simply can print the images in a classic way which is a lot cheaper, but you NEED to print them. That is not negotiable!
Do it when the emotion is still fresh in your mind otherwise, you may lose your initial strong passion for it and later you will procrastinate and the pictures never get a chance to be printed which means that the memory doesn’t get a chance to be seen as often in the future.
