In this blog post, I want to talk about the importance of wedding invitation cards as a piece of memory to look back at.
But before that, let me tell you a story
My parents’ wedding album is unique in many aspects.
My mom’s cousin, Seana, who bought a camera just a week prior to my parent’s wedding (absolutely manual camera with films), offered to photograph their wedding. They made a very big mistake by accepting it just to save some money! Apparently, weddings have always been expensive, even back in the day.
Seana _so called the photographer_ not only was an amateur photographer but also pretty much drunk when it was not even noon.
Thank God, he photographed my mom and dad getting ready, also some pictures of the first look before noon, and they came out good. As I said, in Turn Your Wedding Photo into a Love Book blog post, I have not come across a bad picture in my life, as they preserve time and priceless memories.

According to my mom, he shot the entire roll of film, 36 photos, by noon, and for the ceremony, he started to shoot on the second (and last) roll of film, and now when he is completely drunk! Long story short, there is only ONE picture of their ceremony in their wedding album, and the rest are Seana’s girlfriend, posing with my mom’s bouquet in front of his camera. LOL!
To make it up to them, Seana gifted a beautiful leather album, he brought from Paris, to put their wedding images in. The Album is bound precisely, each page has a blank part to write notes on it, and what is very interesting for me is the very first page of the album that is fully dedicated to the Wedding Invitation cards. Even though my parents were not lucky to have enough pictures to fill the entire album, Surprisingly, they had Wedding invitation cards to display on the first page!

They allocated some budget for wedding invitation cards even though their hands were tight because it is important. Why they didn’t realize the necessity of hiring a professional wedding photographer, is a question I have no answer for!!!
Do you put pictures on wedding invitations? It is up to you!
So, do you need an experienced wedding photographer? Hell yesss!
Do you need to have wedding invitation cards? Absolutely yesss!
In the digital era, many things are virtual! I remember the first digital birthday card I received from my friend when I was 20. All I can recall was a card that popped up once I opened her email. Even though according to psychologists, the first experiences are the ones that stay in your mind boldly, I cannot even remember the color of it nor the note she wrote for me. However, I have kept almost all of the paper-made cards I have received from my beloveds for different occasions in my life.
I know that weddings are expensive; the venue, professional photographer and videographer, caterer, flouriest, and dress are all expensive, but there are some details that make things more outstanding and the memories everlasting, just like a piece of accent furniture to a living room.
If you are trying to be on a certain budget, I won’t recommend cutting wedding stationeries from your expenses, for these two main reasons:
When you are planning your wedding, you are basically designing an event from scratch. Even if you hire a professional wedding planner, you have envisioned something already and shared it with your planner to elaborate it.
Therefore, details are important, it is like the last touch-ups an artist adds to her painting. It helps your guests to envision your wedding style.
For example, if you design your card in black, white, and gold, and the font is calligraphy, you give a message to your guest that they are about to attend a formal and luxurious wedding, so they get to choose their outfits accordingly. On the other hand, an invitation card with pastel colors with a fancy typewriter font visualizes a cozy, small, and informal event.
When you send your invitation or save-the-date card to your friends and family, they keep it forever as something precious, especially if you have used your engagement photos, taken by a professional wedding photographer, to design your cards.

All being said, it all depends on the design and quality of the printing company you choose. A bad design in poor quality material would have the opposite effect.
I have been in the wedding industry just enough to differentiate high-quality printing companies from bad ones by just looking at their websites.
