My aunt got married when I was about 10 years old. I was part of her wedding planning journey. Apparently, she noticed that I have an eye for design, even though I was very young.
It was supposed to be a 3-day wedding and please don’t ask me how much she won in the lottery to pay for it!!! She spent to the last penny on three glamorous dresses, the best photography service in the city, and of course dinner for three nights! She didn’t consider that she must have saved some for decoration.
She couldn’t undo the invitations nor returning the dresses, therefore she asked for help! Bringing a 10-year-old into the game revealed how desperately she needed help regardless of my age and possible disqualification.
I remember that I was in charge of the wedding favorsX3!!!
Honestly, I felt proud that I was chosen for this very important position. Now, I had to hire my team to help me make that happen. I think I owe her my entrepreneurship soul as I got to experience creating a line of products (wedding favors) and hiring people (my younger cousins) for this important matter!
Check out my online shop, Maloos Design, where I sell my products!
For the first night: pink color Sugared Almonds in organza bags, decorated with pink ribbons.
For the second night: Sage color Sugared Almonds in organza bags, decorated with Sage ribbons.
For the third night: White color Sugared Almonds in organza bags, decorated with white color ribbons.
And you probably know why pink, sage, and white. Right?
As I was handing them over to the guests, I was making sure to mention that my team and I designed and created them all.
Unfortunately, when it comes to assigning budgets and cutting expenses on weddings, couples normally aim to cut or minimize the decoration budget. In fact, the beauty of a wedding is in the hand of the whole wedding vendor team including the designers and florists. Hiring the best wedding photographer in Chicago is not enough, you definitely need to have a beautiful design to help the images be more outstanding.
Since I noticed that many weddings in Chicago carry the DIY characteristic, I decided to write a blog post about Seven DIY Ideas for Your Wedding. I highly recommend you hire a professional designer, but If you wanna do it by yourself, do it in style yo:)
Here is the list of the things you can make (with your cousins) HAHA:

I have seen so many creative setups. You can simply use two stands with a horizontal pole and hung your backdrop (which can be glittery and shiny) and use it as a photo booth station. Another idea is creating a wooden board as a backdrop. you and your finance may need to have multiple trips to the Home Depot! Just a heads up. and later you can decorate it with flowers. To make it fun, you can buy or make silly props.
You can use decal alphabet stickers on separate thick pieces of paper and use a string or ribbon to attach them together. J.U.S.T.M.A.R.R.I.E.D 🙂
Or another option would be decal alphabet stickers on a piece of wood slab.
If the ceremony and the reception are outdoor, you may want to provide parasols for hot days or throw blankets for chilly ones. Most importantly, if you want your guest to be on the dance floor, they must get rid of those uncomfortable/beautiful shoes, so providing flip flops is a thoughtful move. Just saying!
Assigning your guest with a table number makes life easier! Be creative and make something that goes well with your wedding theme.
It will be very neat to have notes from your guests as a piece of memory. You can get/make a beautiful notebook for that purpose. What you can also do is to provide an instant camera where they can put a picture of themselves by the note. It is not only fun but also memorable.
Design your wedding program with beautiful templates that you can find online and print on whatever type of paper suits your style, add a paddle stick to it to turn it to a fan! Double-duty 🙂
I am not going to elaborate on this one, and you know why 😉
